Course and Content Terms

These terms describe how course material is organized and made available to students.

  • Self-paced course: A course made up of lessons a student can move through at their own pace rather than on a fixed class schedule.
  • Module: A defined section of a course that groups lessons and practice activities around a specific topic.
  • Lesson: An individual unit of instructional content within a module.
  • Course catalog: The list of courses available on the platform, organized by subject or exam.
  • Learning path: The general order in which a student is expected to move through a course's modules and lessons.
  • Course status: An indicator of whether a course is currently available or coming soon.

Practice and Assessment Terms

These terms cover how students practice material and check their own progress.

  • Practice activity: A topic-based exercise used for repeated, lower-pressure skill-building.
  • Mock examination: A timed activity structured to reflect a course's general format and pacing, used for self-assessment.
  • Self-assessment: The process of using practice or mock examination results to identify topics that need more attention.
  • Progress overview: A summary view of how much of a course's lessons and practice a student has completed.
  • Topic area: A specific content category within a course that lessons, practice, and mock examination questions can be grouped by.

Account and Billing Terms

These terms relate to how subscriptions and billing are managed for a student's use of the platform.

  • Parent-managed account: An account controlled by a parent or guardian that handles subscription, billing, and available learning information for a linked student.
  • Subscription plan: The specific package of course access and features a parent account has selected.
  • Billing frequency: How often a subscription is charged, such as monthly or annual.
  • Renewal: The continuation of a subscription plan into a new billing period.
  • Cancellation: Ending a subscription plan so that it does not renew for a future billing period.
  • Available learning information: The learning-related details a parent-managed account can view about a linked student's activity on the platform.

Webinar and Communication Terms

These terms describe how live sessions and student questions work on the platform.

  • Instructor-led webinar: A weekly live session in which an instructor presents course material on camera.
  • Written question submission: The process by which a student submits a question in writing rather than asking it live.
  • Private platform message: The private channel through which an instructor responds to a submitted written question.
  • Instructor: The person who leads a course's webinars and responds to written questions.
  • Mobile application: A planned way to access the platform from a mobile device. Coming soon; not yet available.
