College Admissions

ACT

High school students preparing to take the ACT as part of the college admissions process.

The ACT is organized into English, Math, Reading, and Science sections, each with its own pacing demands, which is why this course treats timed practice as a core part of preparation rather than an afterthought. Students move through topic-based lessons that build the underlying skills each section assesses, then apply those skills under conditions that mirror the exam's pace. Because the Science section rewards familiarity with reading graphs and experimental data rather than outside science knowledge, dedicated modules help students get comfortable with that format specifically. Live webinars and on-demand written question support round out the self-paced lessons.

Course modules

Students work through video lessons and written explanations organized into topic-based modules, revisiting any section as many times as needed. A parent-managed account allows a parent to review a student's overall progress while the student works through lessons independently.

1

English: Usage and Mechanics

Grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure conventions tested in the English section.

2

English: Rhetorical Skills

Organization, style, and strategy questions about how a passage is constructed.

3

Math: Algebra and Functions

Linear and quadratic equations, functions, and their graphical representations.

4

Math: Geometry and Trigonometry

Plane and coordinate geometry along with foundational trigonometry.

5

Reading Comprehension

Interpreting passages across multiple genres and identifying supporting details.

6

Science: Data Representation

Reading and interpreting data presented in tables, graphs, and charts.

7

Science: Research Summaries and Conflicting Viewpoints

Evaluating experimental setups and comparing differing viewpoints presented in passages.

8

Timed Practice Strategy

Building pacing habits and section-management strategies suited to the ACT's timing.

Practice format

Practice sets are organized by section and topic, so a student can target Science data interpretation, Math geometry, or any other area separately, with an explanation available for each question after it has been attempted.

Mock exam format

Full-length mock exams are structured to reflect the general format and pacing of the ACT, covering the English, Math, Reading, and Science sections so students can practice managing time across a complete test.

Webinar format

Scheduled live webinars led by an ACT Instructor walk through commonly misunderstood topics, such as rhetorical skills questions or interpreting conflicting-viewpoints passages, with time set aside for student questions.

Written questions

Students who want help outside of a webinar can submit a written question through the platform at any time. Responses come back through private platform messages, so a student never needs to appear on camera or join a live session to get an answer.
